Third conclusion:

EHC Red Bull Munich pulled away in the DEL classic against Adler Mannheim thanks to their better use of chances and were already leading 3-0 after the second third. After a quick shorthander from Munich by Smith (21st), the Mannheim team fought their way back into the game despite the 0-2 deficit and had several good chances to score. Just during Mannheim’s best phase, the Red Bulls struck again and increased the lead to 3-0 in the 35th minute with Ehliz’s second goal and a power play.

39′

5:57 p.m

Minor penalty (2 minutes) for Ryan McKiernan (EHC Munich)

The puck just doesn’t want to go in for the Eagles! Murray is fouled by McKiernan, but still almost scores the goal with his skate. The puck bounces off his skate in the slot just over the goal.

38′

5:55 p.m

Is it getting any clearer? The Red Bulls remain on the offensive and hungry for goals. Abeltshauser slams the puck from the left with a wrist shot past the right.

36′

With the 3-0 win, Munich are now clearly on course for a home win. Up to this point, efficiency makes the difference in the DEL classic. Mannheim first missed the first goal several times with good opportunities, then Munich even increased in slapstick style.

Now the Munich team also has a power play goal to their credit! The puck comes into the slot from the left via a detour and deflects to Ehliz. The Munich player also didn’t get the target correctly and ultimately scored over Reul’s blade and under Brückmann to make it 3-0. Curious thing!

Not with Niederberger! The Munich goalkeeper made a sensational save when Mannheim had a triple chance. First Niederbeger collects his first and second saves against Loibl and Fischbuch, then the Munich player also catches a spooned target from Gaudet behind his back. Great saves!

Will Mannheim reward themselves for their good performance in the second third with a goal?

Huge deal for Plachta! The Adler top scorer has an empty goal after a deflected shot and still cannot overcome Niederberger. The Munich goalie saves strongly with his shoulder.

30′

The Red Bulls’ second power play in a row ended without a goal. Mannheim may even prevent the preliminary decision and can have a little hope again after an impeccable penalty killing.

Immediately the next power play for EHC Red Bull! Holding Pilu.

5:26 p.m

Good start for Mannheim! Outnumbered, the guests quickly combine forward on the right wing and fire a dangerous shot from outside via Szwarz. However, Niederberger has a clear view and can grab hold.

The home team went into the first break with a lead in the classic and were overall the more active and better team in the first half. Coach Toni Söderholm’s Kufencracks started attacking right from the start and then, a little late, made it 1-0 in the 18th minute with a break and goal from Yasin Ehliz.

20′

5:05 p.m

Some luck for Brückmann! The Mannheim goalie cannot hold on to a shot from Ehliz and only secures the puck when he follows up, and thus just in front of Kastner.

The last minutes before the end of the third go to Mannheim, who can now use their offensive to establish themselves at the front for longer for the first time.

15′

13′

16:51

The Eagles try it from the second row: Gilmour swings his blade from half-right and thunders the puck into the Red Bulls’ cover. Shortly afterwards, Szwarz fails at a tip-in just in front of the goal.

3′

16:33

In the initial phase, the puck only slides through the neutral zone. Munich are initially a little more active and more often on the hard rubber.

1′

4:30 p.m

Now the classic is on! Can Munich break free with a home win against Alder or will the Red Bulls remain stuck in midfield?

16:28

In keeping with the beginning of the Christmas season, it is already tranquil and cozy in the Olympic ice rink: the fans light lots of sparklers as the teams arrive and create a lovely atmosphere.

16:18

While the Red Bulls still have to tend to their horns that have been shed by bankruptcies, the Eagles have slowly said goodbye to their crisis. The Electoral Palatinate team recently also failed in the Champions League like Munich, but they won two DEL victories around their round of 16 exit against Rapperswill. The Eagles are currently in 6th place in the table, three places and three points ahead of the champions from Munich.

4:10 p.m

Things are going very badly for Red Bull Munich: The German champions were eliminated from the Champions League against Geneva last week and just two days later they also suffered a memorable 7-2 defeat in the Bavarian derby against the Augsburg Panthers last Friday . Today the Adler Mannheim are coming to the Olympic ice rink for the big game and are also asking the Red Bulls to dance.

16:01

Hello and welcome to DEL! The top game between EHC Red Bull and Adler Mannheim will take place in Munich at 4:30 p.m. Who will leave the ice as the winner?
