14:31

What happens?

For the moment, the distances are stagnating. The escapees around Georg Zimmermann are around 40 seconds ahead of the group around the class drivers. However, there are other drivers in between, including Anthony Perez and Ben O’Connor, which is why the pace remains high everywhere.

49

14:27

Perez and O’Connor follow

But: It’s still hectic. A group of four including Anthony Perez and Ben O’Connor takes on the leaders’ pursuit. Other drivers from the main field, which has become very small, are also following suit.

46

14:23

Seven outliers

In addition to Georg Zimmermann, the current leadership group consists of Mattias Skjelmose Jensen, Pello Bilbao, Warren Barguil, Esteban Chaves, Nicholas Schultz and Kasper Asgreen.

43

14:21

Does it work for Zimmermann this time?

Once again, a possible breakaway group crystallizes out in front. Georg Zimmermann made the jump again and, together with six other competitors, gained a small lead of around 15 seconds. However, Movistar in particular, who don’t have a driver with them, is extremely dissatisfied and won’t rest.

41

14:17

Powless has also been left behind

The ailing Romain Bardet and David Gaudu have now been joined by mountain jersey wearer Neilson Powless. But the American has been leading the corresponding ranking since day one, has been fighting tirelessly for the dotted jersey ever since and can now draw on his rich cushion. Austria’s Felix Gall follows in second place, 18 points behind Powless.

39

14:14

Next attempt by Zimmermann

This race is still extremely confusing because the field is split up into several groups. Meanwhile, Georg Zimmermann and his teammate Lilian Calmejane are once again trying to get close to the leading duo Julian Alaphilippe and Matej Mohorič.

36

14:10

Gaudu and Bardet far back

Things are not looking good for David Gaudu and Romain Bardet at the moment. The two French classification hopes have already lost almost two minutes to the top of the race.

34

14:08

heat battle

On top of that, the outside temperatures and the bright sunshine will bother the cycling stars on the already difficult terrain. The thermometer now exceeds 30 degrees – and continues to rise. However, showers and thunderstorms are possible later in the afternoon.

32

14:06

Alaphilippe and Mohorič use the descent?

That means: In the following descent, a new racing situation will almost inevitably arise. Julian Alaphilippe and Matej Mohorič take all the risks going downhill and therefore break away a bit.

29

14:03

Duo leads at the Col de Guéry

Now the Col de Guéry is done! As a duo, Krists Neilands and Wouter Poels reached the top first and share the points of this mountain classification. But the peloton continues to keep a close eye on the two breakaways.

27

13:59

Van Aert also falls behind

This is also a surprise: Wout Van Aert, who has just invested a lot, can no longer keep up with the pace and tumbles out of the field of classification drivers.

26

13:55

Buchmann and Zimmermann show themselves

It is so turbulent and hectic at every corner and end that even the director loses track a bit. In any case, the two Germans Emmanuel Buchmann and Georg Zimmermann are now well ahead and trying to form a leading group.

25

13:52

Bardet and Gaudu in trouble!

Oh! Not only the sprinters around Caleb Ewan and Fabio Jakobsen have a lot of trouble and have to pay tribute to the enormously high initial speed, but also Romain Bardet, who is tenth overall. Just a few seconds later, it hits his French compatriot David Gaudu as well.

24

1:50 p.m

dissatisfaction in the peloton

Krists Neilands and Michał Kwiatkowski, who had just tried it once before, also take part in the renewed attempt to escape. However, because the situation does not suit all teams by a long shot, individual drivers keep coming back.

23

1:47 p.m

Van Aert flexes his muscles

But rest is far from the order of the day! Wout van Aert also wants to have a say and jumps forward with his speed at breakneck speed – the 13 escapees are promptly caught. Everyone is together again, but of course the next attacks are not long in coming.

21

13:43

13 riders in front

This leaves 13 drivers at the top. In addition to Matteo Jorgenson, Louis Meintjes, Michał Kwiatkowski and Jon Izaguirre, among others, have made the leap forward.

20

13:42

Pogačar and Vingegaard take out

Now the leading group is flying apart, because the classification riders around Tadej Pogačar and Jonas Vingegaard drop back and are back in the main field in a few moments.

19

13:41

No time to catch your breath

As soon as the breakaways are down, it goes up again – this time a bit longer. The Col de Guéry is also classified as a 3rd category climb, but is actually 7.8 kilometers long. On average, an incline of five percent has to be overcome.

17

13:38

How does the peloton react?

Now Tadej Pogačar himself is making sure that the merger between the two groups is established! In the meantime, Ineos Grenadiers and BORA-hansgrohe have organized themselves in the pelton and are taking care of the tracking work.

15

13:36

Explosive racing situation

The group around Jonas Vingegaard and Tadej Pogačar is only a few seconds behind the escapees. This makes it clear: the other teams will not rest at the back of the main field.

13.

13:34

Charmig gets first mountain classification

The leading group has just reached the top of the Col de la Moréno. Anthon Charmig (Uno-X Pro Cycling Team) secured the two mountain points before heading back down to the valley.

10

13:31

Pelton tears apart!

Let’s get started! Tadej Pogačar (UAE Team Emirates) suddenly breaks away from the rest of the peloton with other competitors. However, Jonas Vingegaard (Jumbo – Visma) reacted well and found the rear wheel of his main rival.

8th.

13:29

Jumbo Visma not satisfied

Other riders join Krists Neilands and Bryan Coquard, while Matteo Jorgenson is also back. But Jumbo-Visma won’t let the group go without Wout van Aert, one of the big favorites to win the day.

6.

13:26

High initial pace

Next attempt: This time Krists Neilands (Israel – Premier Tech) and Bryan Coquard (Cofidis) rip away and earn a minimal cushion. Meanwhile, at the end of the peloton, some sprinters like Caleb Ewan (Lotto-Dstny) are having serious difficulties keeping up with the high initial pace.

4.

13:23

First escape attempt ended

Now Quinten Hermans (Alpecin-Deceuninck) and Nelson Oliveira (Movistar) try it, break away a few meters from the big peloton. But the others at the back react immediately and catch up with the duo again.

3.

13:22

Hard start

Because a bit of time to warm up is out of the question here. Practically from the start it goes straight up to the Col de la Moréno. This category 3 climb is 4.8 kilometers long and has an average gradient of almost five percent. Among other things, Georg Zimmermann (Intermarché – Circus – Wanty) is involved in the front, but the first attempts fizzle out without effect.

1.

13:20

Here we go!

Tour director Christian Prudhomme waves his famous flag out of the race control vehicle, opening the 10th stage! And as expected: At the front of the field, the attack is full steam ahead.

13:07

It’s rolling

The big peloton was just starting to move. The professional cyclists continue to roll through the Vulcania theme park for about a quarter of an hour at a leisurely pace, which is the setting for a cycling race for the first time. Then tour director Christian Prudhomme will finally release this race.

12:49 p.m

Flashback to Sunday

Before the rest day, Michael Woods won a real breakaway thriller on the difficult climb to the Puy de Dôme and intercepted Matteo Jorgenson, who had been leading for a long time, in the last meters. There was also a heated exchange of blows among the classification drivers. Jonas Vingegaard, wearer of the yellow jersey, and his big challenger Tadej Pogačar watched each other for a long time before the Slovenian started with about a kilometer and a half to go. Vingegaard was only able to follow the attack briefly but avoided a slump. Ultimately, Pogačar reduced his gap to 17 seconds. “It was a good day. I’m very happy that I was able to get some time and put Jonas under pressure,” he said afterwards.

12:38 p.m

The daily program

On the 167.2 kilometer long part, Radstars have to negotiate countless other short climbs and many curves in addition to five mountain classifications in the 2nd and 3rd category. So today’s program is over 3,000 meters in altitude in the French Massif Central. The terrain is therefore predestined for a breakaway group. Drivers like Wout van Aert, Magnus Cort Nielsen or Mathieu van der Poel should have marked this stage in their calendars. In between, a sprint rating is built in, which is why exciting little fights can also be expected in the special ratings.

12:30 p.m

Welcome to the 10th stage!

Have a wonderful good day and welcome to the tenth stage of the 110th Tour de France! After the first rest day, the remaining 169 riders will travel from the Vulcania theme park to Issoire on medium-difficult terrain. The sharp start is scheduled at 1:20 p.m.
