+++ This is how the selection of the Ballon d’Or winner works +++

Until two years ago, the Ballon d’Or was traditionally awarded in December. The award was given to the best footballer and the best female footballer of the previous calendar year.

In 2022, the trophy was awarded for the best performances within a season for the first time. The 2022/23 season is therefore crucial for this year’s Ballon d’Or.

Ahead of the election, which will be carried out by the French magazine France Football, a list of 30 candidates will be drawn up. From this, jurors from the first 100 countries in the FIFA world rankings select their favorite.

In addition to individual achievements, titles won in the club and national team as well as fair play behavior are also taken into account in the election.

+++ FC Bayern stars have no chance? +++

With Harry Kane and Min-jae Kim, two new signings from FC Bayern are also on the candidate list for the 2023 Ballon d’Or. Kane moved from Tottenham Hotspur to Munich in the summer, Kim from SSC Napoli.

However, neither of them has any chance of winning the award. This also applies to Munich’s offensive jewel Jamal Musiala. Instead, Erling Haaland and Lionel Messi are considered the top favorites.
