Israël corrects Trump: ‘There are no more hostages’ died’
Israel has nuanced statements by US President Donald Trump about the Israelis who are being held in the Gaza Strip. Trump suggested in the White House that more hostages have died than known. “Now they have twenty,” he said. “But those twenty are probably not twenty anymore, because a few of them may not be there anymore.”
Those statements attracted attention in Israel. A interest group stated that family members should first be informed if there is new information about the fate of hostages. The Israeli authorities then announced in writing that the number of living hostages is unchanged as far as is known, writes news site The Times of Israel. “Twenty of the hostages are alive, two others are in danger, 28 are no longer alive and declared deceased.”
