LIVE European Championship Qualifier | Scots turn it around against Norway from Haaland, Belgium and Portugal later in action | Foreign football

The qualification for the European Football Championship 2024 continues today with eleven games. Top countries Belgium (against Austria) and Portugal (against Bosnia and Herzegovina) will be in action tonight. Several matches were played earlier today, including the meeting between striker Erling Haaland’s Norway and Scotland. Follow the standings above via a live widget.

European Championship far away for Haaland and Norway

Norway suffered a painful defeat against Scotland in the fight for a European Championship ticket. Thanks to a goal from top striker Erling Haaland (a converted penalty kick), the Norwegians were heading for their first victory in the European Championship qualifying series. But in the final phase, the game completely turned around. Lyndon Dykes slid in the equalizer for Scotland in the 87th minute, after which Kenny McLean scored the equalizer two minutes later after a nice attack.

Just before the double hit, Haaland had already been substituted, so he was missing in the Norwegian final offensive that followed. Scotland won the victory and did good business in the battle for a European Championship ticket. The Scots still have the full spoils after three games, while Norway only has one point after three games. Competitor Spain is three points and played one game less.

Vertonghen is missing from Belgium

Jan Vertonghen will not play in Belgium’s European Championship qualifier against Austria. The 36-year-old defender of Anderlecht is not on the official list of the match on the website of the European football association UEFA. Belgium also misses Kevin De Bruyne, Amadou Onana and Leandro Trossard against Austria.

Former Ajax player Vertonghen did not fully train with the Belgians this week. He missed two practices. He reported to the field on Wednesday. Verthonghen played his last league game for Anderlecht on April 26. The team did not qualify for the play-offs.

European Championship for Bulgarians even further out of sight

Bulgaria also failed to win the third qualifying match for next year’s European Championship in Germany. The team of national coach Mladen Krstajic played a draw with Lithuania: 1-1. Bulgaria played a large part of the game with one man more.

Edvinas Girdvainis gave Lithuania the lead after fifteen minutes of play. Shortly afterwards, defender Justas Lasickas had to leave the field with a red card. Martin Petkov brought Bulgaria alongside in the 27th minute, but a great dominance then failed to yield a winning goal. Bulgaria lost the first two European Championship qualifiers against Montenegro (0-1) and Hungary (3-0) and is at the bottom of group G with one point after three matches. The Bulgarians last participated in a final tournament in 2004.
