The game is already on the home stretch and is bobbing along a bit. There is hardly any action in the last third on either side.

Alanen comes too late in a duel in midfield and clears her opponent. Yellow card!

Lucia Garcia

Tooor for Spain, 3-1 by Lucía García

Is that the decision? And again it’s a header. María León skillfully brings a free kick into the penalty area from the right. Lucía García runs in and heads into the right corner, which is well worth seeing.

70

19:29

In return, the Finns find themselves in a promising attacking position. The pass from right to left to Sällström is a bit too high, however, so that she cannot control the ball in the penalty area.

69

19:27

Esther is played to the left of the penalty area and then wants to pass across to Lucía García again. However, the pass is too imprecise and the chance fizzles out.

67

19:26

Finland changes again. Kuikka comes into the game for Hyyrynen and has practically had no training in the last few days. She was struggling with an infection.

65

19:24

Irene Paredes reaches well despite her warning. In midfield she clears Summanen humorlessly, but hits the ball first. The referee lets play continue – rightly so.

63

19:21

And it keeps going! María León tries a weak right foot from the second row and just misses the left corner.

61

19:19

The newcomers make a good contribution immediately! Sheila escapes the Finnish women and crosses halfway up to the penalty spot. Laia Aleixandri stands there and heads into the right corner. Somehow Korpela still scratches the leather from the line.

Esther is still acting a bit unlucky in today’s game and would like to force her luck. On the left of the sixteen, she flicks into the far corner, but the ball flies over the goal.

56

19:13

Ona Batlle vs Tinja-Riikka Korpela! This time the Spaniards counterattack and Ona Batlle is sent on the right flank. In the sixteenth, she prevails against Pikkujämsä with a small feint and shoots into the low corner on the bottom left. Korpela dives in a flash and parries.

54

19:12

Irene Paredes

Yellow card for Irene Paredes (Spain)

Paredes receives the first yellow card of the game. Before Sällström can catch up to her in midfield, she works her arms from behind and brings her down. Clear tactical foul!

52

19:10

And Finland is now diving offensively too. A free kick from the right half-field slips through to Summanen, but only manages a weak shot on goal from ten meters in the penalty area. Sandra Paños grabs.

48

19:07

Irene Guerrero owns the first finish in the second round! But her shot from 25 meters is one for Tinja-Riikka Korpela in the box for the white and blue.

46

19:04

Finland make a one-off substitution with Sainio replacing Engman. The Spaniards, on the other hand, return to the field unchanged.

Kick-off 2nd half

45

18:54

Mid-term conclusion:
After 45 minutes, the Spaniards lead 2-1 against Finland. And what was that for a start in this game? The ball hit the net for the first time after about 50 seconds and it was Linda Charlotta Sällström who caught Spain off guard. But the Reds didn’t let that deter them. Wave after wave of attacks rolled towards the Scandinavians, but it was not until the 26th minute that Irene Paredes equalized from a corner. Shortly before the break tea another high ball sailed into Finland’s sixteen and Aitana Bonmatí also headed in to give Spain the lead (41′). It’s about to go on!

44

18:47

The Spaniards continue to play happily forward after the goal and don’t even think about taking the lead into the half-time break with a lot of possession.

41

18:43

Aitana Bonmati

Tooor for Spain, 2-1 through Aitana Bonmatí

Game turned – Spain scores a second header! María León is not affected at all on the left in the half field. She looks up and has her eye on Aitana Bonmatí, who is left completely alone between Pikkujämsä and Koivisto. León crosses to the penalty spot and there Aitana is literally in the air at 1.61m to deflect the leather with his forehead to the right angle.

38

18:41

Corner number ten is now flying into Finland’s penalty area. But unlike the last one, which led to the goal, this can easily be defused by the Scandinavian defender.

35

18:37

Irene Guerrero is the next to attempt a long-range shot for the southern Europeans. But like her teammates, her attempt too central and ends up in the arms of Tinja-Riikka Korpela.

33

18:36

All in all, there is significantly more substance behind Spain’s playful system than behind that of the Finns. That doesn’t change the fact that the white-blues keep getting the last line of the reds under pressure, even with their simple means.

30

18:33

And the Finnish women? They send Sällström on the road again, which has to go one-on-one against María León. The latter gets the ball with a perfectly executed sliding tackle.

29

18:31

Leila Ouahabi drops the ball at the sixteen in a central position through detours in front of his feet. She tries a dropkick, but the leather slips over her instep and sails towards the corner flag.

28

18:30

Everything back to zero! The equalizer is well deserved given Spain’s overwhelming superiority. Finland, on the other hand, will probably stick to their previous match plan.

26

18:28

Irene Paredes

Tooor for Spain, 1:1 by Irene Paredes

Corner number nine leads to success! Mariona Caldentey takes another corner kick, this time from the left. She crosses the ball to the edge of the six-yard box and Irene Paredes runs into the pass from the back in Carles Puyol’s manner. She rises up and nods the ball powerfully over the line.

24

18:26

So far, the Reds have lacked efficiency in the conclusion or the last pass. They often get to the sixteen with ease, but then finding a gap in the Finnish bulwark is difficult.

22

18:25

Spain celebrates because the ball is in the net! Patri heads the leather over the line, but the linesman immediately signals. Previously, the gaming device was off.

19

18:22

Best opportunity for the Spaniards! Leila Ouahabi hits a cross from the left half field. Whether you want it or not, the ball gets longer and longer and flies towards the long corner. The ball sinks late and lands on the crossbar. Lucky for Korpela and the white-blues!

18

18:21

Lucía García beat Emma Koivisto on the right in the last third, but then he is inaccurate when trying to cross into the middle. After all, there are corners that bring nothing.

15

18:18

Pikkujämsä chips the ball behind the last chain again. Sandra Paños smelled the pass and came to the game before Sällström.

12.

18:15

But now again an offensive action by the Scandinavians. Another long pass is enough to find Sällström on the right side of the box. From a relatively acute angle, she then shoots flat past the left corner.

11.

18:14

Otherwise, the score does not reflect the previous gameplay at all. Only the Spaniards are in possession of the ball, Finland are having a hard time getting out of their own half.

8th.

18:11

Mariona Caldentey tests Tinja-Riikka Korpela with a long-range shot from a central position from 25 meters. However, this is easy prey for the goalkeeper.

6.

18:09

The Reds are still undeterred and play forward. Following a corner kick from the right, Irene Paredes narrowly misses a low pass in the middle.

4.

18:06

Spain is pushing for a quick response. A corner kick from the left is taken briefly and Esther hits a cross at the far post. The cross is set a little too high and ends up in the gate.

1.

18:03

Linda Charlotta Salstrom

Tooor for Finland, 0:1 by Linda Charlotta Sällström

What a start! Finland’s record goalscorer puts the underdogs ahead! Westerlund plays a perfect pass into the interface from behind. Sällström takes off between María León and Irene Paredes and runs half-right towards goal. There she stays cool in front of Sandra Paños and sinks in the bottom left. The ball bounces against the inside post and then into happiness.

1.

18:02

The ball rolls! Spain in red toasts. The Finnish women wear white jerseys.

16:59

Finland, on the other hand, enter the group as a big outsider. The Scandinavians have only won twice in the last ten games (five draws, three defeats). With two other women’s football heavyweights in Denmark and Germany (the teams meet at 9pm today) to complete the group, anything less than fourth place at the end of the group stage would be a big surprise for Finland.

16:58

The Spaniards are considered the absolute top favorites to win the title this year. The team has been unbeaten for 23 games. As if that wasn’t enough, she also marched through the qualifying group without a single loss or draw. The goal difference: 48:0 – an average of eight goals per game! Nevertheless, Jorge Vilda’s preparations for the European Championship ended on Tuesday with a shock: World footballer Alexia Putellas tore a cruciate ligament in the final minutes of the training session and is therefore logically unable to play in the European Championship.

16:57

Hello and a warm welcome to the European Women’s Football Championship! Today the teams of group B start the tournament. The game between Spain and Finland will start at 6 p.m. today.
