Until recently, Irene Schouten was unbeatable at ‘her’ 3,000 metres. In recent months, not everything has turned into gold and that turned out to be the case today. The skater from Hoogkarspel took bronze in the NK distances at 3,000 meters.
She did win the three kilometers in 2021 and 2022. Antoinette Rijpma-de Jong (gold) and Joy Beune (silver) stayed ahead of Schouten. It was her first game after a long winter break. She had previously missed the NK all-round, so she was missing at the European Championships in Hamar. Schouten will participate in the 5,000 meters in Heerenveen tomorrow.
