Germany says Israel that delivery should guarantee help

Germany has emphasized that Israel should guarantee the supply of relief supplies to the Gaza Strip. The government sees the small start of an improvement in humanitarian assistance to the Gaza Strip, but this is not enough according to a government spokesperson.

According to him, Israel is obliged to admit all help and to do so in collaboration with the UN and other aid organizations. On the other hand, Germany is also concerned about reports that a large part of goods disappears “in the hands of the Hamas movement and other criminal organizations”. In the ailing Gaza, a kilo of flour now costs 80 euros.

The government spokesperson spoke while foreign minister Johann Wadephul cabinet members reported by telephone on his trip to Israel. According to German media, the minister was called back by the Chancellor of his vacation to tell the Israelis that they should allow help.

He traveled to Israel on Thursday. Germany would not consider, such as France and Great Britain, to recognize Palestine as a state within the foreseeable future. Berlin recognizes a Palestinian state after a peace process in which Israelis and Palestinians reach an agreement on the two -state solution, as it is called. But Wadephul also said on his journey that such a process should really start.

The number of Gazans dying due to food shortages continues to rise. The local Ministry of Health reports on Saturday that seven deaths were registered in the previous 24 hours. The total number of deaths due to starvation and malnutrition is now at 169. There are 93 children among the dead, the ministry explains.
