December brings international makers to Bruges, because the festival explicitly opts for world premieres of Belgian creations. In her new dance, Gruwez brings a raw energy with movements that resemble martial arts. “I have investigated the emotion of anger. We choose what we do with it. Everyone has the eye of the storm within them,” she says.
This edition (the 18th), December Dance focuses extra on Belgian makers, says Sigrid Janssens. “The dancers can complete their work here and show it to the public for the first time. The festival runs until December 14.
