The Swedish national player Lukas Sandell will leave the handball Bundesliga after just one year.
The Rhein-Neckar Löwen backcourt player is joining top Hungarian club Pick Szeged after his contract ends in the summer. The Lions announced this on Thursday and immediately presented a successor: Jacob Lassen is coming from HSV Hamburg for the 2026/27 season.
With the Danish international, “we have found the ideal solution to be in a top position on the half-right in the long term,” said Uwe Gensheimer, sporting director of Rhein-Neckar Löwen.
The farewell to Sandell, who moved from One Veszprém to Mannheim before the season, was planned. “We knew that this commitment would be temporary, but we appreciate the positive influence he has had this season,” said Gensheimer.
