In 2022, Linn Gestblom won Olympic gold with the Swedish biathlon relay team. Then in 2024 her career was suddenly slowed down. But now she is apparently back.
After a long period of suffering, the comeback of a biathlon Olympic champion is now becoming apparent: Linn Gestblom is fit again in time for the Olympic winter. This is reported by the Swedish newspaper “Expressen”. Gestblom is registered for the unofficial start of the biathlon season in Idre.
And that after a total of 21 months break: The Swede underwent shoulder surgery at the beginning of last year. As the problems persisted, a second operation was carried out at the beginning of this year. Therefore, Gestblom was no longer active in the World Cup, her last participation was in February 2024. But now Gestblom, who won gold in the relay at the 2022 Olympic Games, is about to return.
Gestblom also gave an interview to the Swedish news agency TT. “I hope that I will be back and have enough time to train before it starts. At the same time, I don’t think the comeback will come too soon,” said Gestblom. There is a bit of uncertainty before every winter, just like now before her return.
