Linkin Park accept two Billboard awards

Linkin Park have won two awards at the 2024 Billboard Music Awards. They were awarded best rock group and best hard rock artist. The band was able to prevail in both categories against names like Good Neighbors, The Red Clay Strays, Bad Omens and Hardy.

These are their first awards presented by the industry giant since winning the “Modern Rock Artist Of The Year” award in 2001 and 2003.

Since 1990, the awards have been awarded solely based on artists’ digital and physical sales, radio presence or streaming numbers.

Linkin Park pick up big trophy

In a short thank you video shortly before their performance with “The Emptiness Machine” at the awards ceremony, Linkin Park addressed their social circle who had supported them. “We thank you very much. We have too many people to thank: our friends, our family, all our teams and everyone we worked with on this album. And thank you, Billboard.”

As they walked out onto the stage, Mike Shinoda casually commented on how “heavy” their trophy was.

Here is it okay to the thank you video from Linkin Park.

Not successful in all categories

It was to be expected that the group, which returned in 2024 after a long absence, had a good chance of winning a prize after their successful album “From Zero” and ten chart-topping songs in the “Billboard Hot Hard Rock Songs”.

In one of the largest categories, “Top Duo/Group”, Shinoda, Armstrong and Co. had to admit defeat to the US-Mexicans Fuerza Regida.

Taylor Swift is breaking all records

As expected, the big winner of the evening was Taylor Swift. She won the “Top Artist” award at the Billboard Music Awards for the fourth time. This makes her the sole record holder ahead of Drake, who received this award three times. The 35-year-old received the award for best female artist for the sixth time.
