After the season, FC Bayern wants to present the master shell to its fans on the town hall balcony. One party says that the Munich should pay for the costs.

FC Bayern already has the championship. Two game days before the end, the team of coach Vincent Kompany is no longer the title in the Bundesliga. The winning of the master shell is to be celebrated accordingly with the fans – on May 18 at the town hall balcony of the city of Munich.

This process has been a tradition for years. After every season, the players presented the trophies they had achieved on Marienplatz on Marienplatz. The celebrations always paid the city. But at the moment there is exactly resistance from politics.

According to a “TZ” report, the party Die Linke demands that the German record champions should pay for the costs incurred in the future. Left-wing city councilor Thomas Lechner emphasizes that the club is granted “a big privilege” with the master celebration in the town hall. The politician then clearly: “But that this is financed from tax funds must have an end. The cash register of FC Bayern is filled – but not that of the city.”

Left City Councilor Brigitte Wolf also spoke up. Saving everywhere in the city must be saved, but the money is there for “football millionaires”. You could “simply no longer afford these prestige events,” she complained. “If you don’t want to endanger social cohesion in the city, you have to prioritize your expenses differently.”

At the other parties in the town hall, the statements of the left were not well received. CSU boss Manuel Pretzl described FC Bayern to the “tz” as “one of the greatest figureheads for our city”. The club would bring tourists, trade tax and awareness in metropolis. “If you invite someone to celebrate, you won’t let the guest pay for it. This is small careered and envy,” said Pretzl.
