A good year after leaving Borussia Mönchengladbach, Adi Hütter has found a new club: he will coach AS Monaco in the future.

Former Bundesliga coach Adi Hütter will be the new coach at AS Monaco in France League 1. The 53-year-old Austrian signed a contract with the Monegasque for two seasons until June 30, 2025, as the club announced.

In Monaco, Hütter succeeds Belgian Philippe Clement, from whom the club parted ways after missing out on the European Football Cup last season. The ex-Gladbacher Hütter is scheduled to lead his first training session on Wednesday.

Trainers in Gladbach and Frankfurt

Borussia Mönchengladbach parted ways with Hütter in May 2022 after a mediocre season. The coach had previously looked after Eintracht Frankfurt from 2018 to 2021. In 2019 he reached the semi-finals of the Europa League with Hessen.

“Over the past few years, Adi has proven himself in a number of different leagues and on the European stage”, said Monaco’s football director Thiago Scuro, according to the announcement. Before his Bundesliga stations, Hütter had worked in Switzerland and Austria.

At Monaco, long-time Leverkusen player Kevin Volland and ex-Cologne player Ismail Jakobs are in the squad. Most recently, goalkeeper Alexander Nübel from FC Bayern Munich was loaned to the club from the Principality.
