Lightning-quick goals against Young AZ at Almere City

Jong AZ was unable to break any pots on a visit to Almere City FC. It became 2-1 for the home team in Almere. Just before the break, the hosts struck after an Alkmaar lead through Yusuf Barasi.

It took a while for the game to get going, but then it went wild. So Hamdi Akujobi got a great chance. The right back shot high over from a promising position. Yusuf Barasi was released in front of goal a few minutes later. However, his shot was blocked by goalkeeper Nordin Bakker. After a misunderstanding in Almere’s defense, Barasi was able to take advantage and he shot the 1-0 against the ropes. Before the break, the home side put things back in order. First, Akujobi equalized and Stije Resink even gave his team the lead: 2-1.

In the second half, chances were very few. Ricuenio Kewal and Fedde de Jong tried from a distance without success. The venom was clearly in the tail, because in the final phase it rained opportunities. For example, Thomas Poll and Lance Duijvestijn were dangerous. The biggest chance was for Damienus Reverson. The substitute, however, found Nordin Bakker on his way, so that it remained 2-1.

Due to the defeat, Jong AZ is stuck in fourteenth place between Jong PSV and Jong Ajax. The next opponent is Jong FC Utrecht on Monday 17 April.
