For the men, the swimming part immediately colored the race. Pamphiel Parreyn and Sven Vandenbroucke were the first to come out of the water, followed by Lennert Cappan and Jasper Sabbe, among others.

Ex-cyclist Cappan showed his strength on the bike. He drove firmly and took the lead with a comfortable lead of almost two minutes on Parreyn and a hunting group with Sabbe and Vandenbroucke.

Cappan got a hard time while walking. Kilometer after kilometer his pursuers were approaching. Jasper Sabbe took over three kilometers from the finish and walked unthreats to victory. In the final phase, Sven Vandenbroucke also bumped over Cappan, who eventually finished third.
