Expressing that he is pleased with the trust that coach Domenico Tedesco has in him, Mercan said, “I would like to thank my coach Tedesco. He trusts me, and I try not to disappoint this trust. Referring to his relationship with Archie Brown, with whom he had a jersey rivalry, Mercan said, “Our relationship with Archie Brown is very good. We constantly support each other. Competition is a good thing; we both play hard. There is a strong bond between us. When he plays, I support him, and when I play, he supports me.”
