Michael Bradley succeeds fired coach Sandro Schwarz at the New York Red Bulls. The former Borussia Mönchengladbach player will take over the first team of the Major League Soccer club for the 2026 season. The US first division team announced this on Monday.

“I am very happy about the opportunity to be head coach of the club where I started my professional career – and in the state that I call home,” said the now 38-year-old in the club statement.

Bradley is the successor to the former Mainz Bundesliga coach Schwarz. The German, who missed the play-offs with New York this year, was head coach of the RB club from December 2023 to the end of October.

Most recently, Bradley led the New York second team to the first title win in the club’s history in the MLS NEXT Pro, the MLS youth league. “He leads with calm confidence and has an excellent feel for dealing with people,” said sports director Julian de Guzman about the 151-time US international.
