Poor Leonie ter Braak: the presenter was severely dissed at the RTL press presentation. She arrived there full of expectations with a new haircut, but left disappointed.
It was a colorful collection of stars at RTL’s annual press presentation for a week and a half. New recruit Leonie ter Braak was also present, but she must have experienced it as a firm slap in the face. According to media expert Victor Vlam, she was severely dissed by her employer.
New Eve?
Like many others, Leonie is sometimes tipped as a potential successor to Eva Jinek. “It is then suggested that she should take over Eva’s position, because you now have three men and she is a woman. The idea is that it fits perfectly,” says Victor in his podcast The Communicados.
That name is not just mentioned, he continues. “She of course presented HLF8 at SBS, where she switched from. So in itself, presenting a talk show would make sense.”
Pony ter Braak
However, it doesn’t seem to be possible. Victor was also present at that presentation and kept a close eye on Leonie. “She happened to be sitting diagonally right behind me. Another little news, she now has a pony. But apart from that, what struck me is that she was almost invisible in that entire presentation.”
What?! “It was not about Leonie ter Braak at all. You have just switched from the other major commercial channel in the Netherlands. You are the new addition to RTL. Then the new season is presented and you don’t appear in it at all. There were a few fragments in it, a few flashes of Leonie ter Braak.”
Painful
Ouch, that’s painful. “There were many RTL stars who were extensively named. But Leonie ter Braak actually remained unnamed. I can imagine that she didn’t really like that. But I can also imagine that this means that the chance that she will take over for Eva Jinek… Based on this, I would not think the chance was too great.”
Leonie? That won’t happen, Victor thinks… “Maybe we’re reading too much into this, but this seasonal presentation is so well put together… It’s a very expensive event, it cost tons of money. People have been working on it for months. You can look at little things like this. It usually says something…”
