Lenny Kravitz will perform at this year’s Academy Awards. The 58-year-old takes on a singing part around the well-received “In Memoriam” part, honoring deceased celebrities. Since 1994, the segment has been a staple of the annual Academy Awards, this time honoring more than 200 people from the film industry. Among the deceased stars receiving a posthumous honor are Burt Bacharach, Lisa Marie Presley, Raquel Welch and Tom Sizemore. The “In Memoriam” segment also receives a lot of attention every year because Hollywood greats are sometimes missing or names were even wrongly assigned, which didn’t exactly look respectful.

Last year, Jean-Paul Belmondo, Jean-Marc Vallée, Peter Bogdanovich and Sidney Poitier were among those honored.

The awards ceremony will take place on March 13 at 1:00 a.m. (CET) at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles and will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel for the third time after 2017 and 2018. “Everything Everywhere All at Once” is a favorite of the night with eleven nominations. This is followed by “The Banshees of Inisherin” and the German film adaptation of the Remarques novel “Nothing New in the West” with nine nominations each.
