The murderer of John Lennon was rejected for the 14th time for a release. This emerges from an online decision by the state authority for prison and probation.
The attack from 1980
Mark David Chapman, now 70 years old, had kicked a probation committee in August. Since 2000, twenty years after the assassination attempt, he has generally been considered to be released on probation.
On December 8, 1980, Chapman shot the ex-beatle in front of his apartment house “The Dakota” in New York-only shortly after Lennon signed a record to him. Lennon died at the age of 40. Chapman then waited for the police with a copy of JD Salinger’s novel “The catcher in rye”. In 1981 he was convicted of 20 years to life.
Mostness and regression
In earlier hearings, the protocols of which were partially published in 2022, Chapman spoke of “villain in my heart”. He acted out of glaring addiction and was aware of the injustice. In previous rejections, the probation commission emphasized its “selfish abuse of human life of global scope” and the persistent consequences for the world.
The current hearing protocol has not yet been available. Chapman’s next option on probation is scheduled for February 2027. The perpetrator continues to sit in Green Haven Correctional Facility in Hudson Valley, New York.
Chapman on the death penalty
In an earlier protocol, Mark David Chapman explained to deserve the death penalty. “If you knowingly plan the murder of someone, although you know that it is wrong and you do it for yourself, in my opinion this is a reason for a death penalty,” he said. “I earn zero, nothing. If the law and you decide to leave me in here for the rest of my life, I have no way of complaining about it.”
Sorry at Yoko Ono
“I murdered him to use her word from beforehand because he was very, very, very, very famous, and that is the only reason, and I was very, very, very, very, very, very selfish,” said the perpetrator. “I want to add that and emphasize that. It was an extremely selfish act. I apologize for the pain I am her [Ono] have added. I think about it all the time. “
