Serious blow of fate for Kevin Kampl: The RB Leipzig professional mourns the loss of a family member. He said an emotional goodbye on Instagram.
Bundesliga professional Kevin Kampl remembered his brother Seki with an emotional post on Instagram. According to “Bild”, he died unexpectedly last week at the age of just 51.
“My big brother… you were my best friend,” the RB Leipzig midfielder wrote. “The best brother, son, father and uncle anyone could ask for in life! I love you more than words could ever describe!”
Kampl thanked Seki “for everything in life” and emphasized that without his brother he would never have become the person he was allowed to be today. “You have always been the anchor in our family and without you it will never be the same again,” said the 35-year-old.
Kampl posted the words with a video of a farewell game for Seki. The former national player can be seen, among other things, converting a penalty kick in the follow-up shot and then hugging the goalkeeper. In addition, dozens of pyroflakes are lit for the deceased. One of Kampl’s teammates can be seen with a framed picture of Seki.
Some well-known footballers expressed their condolences under Kampl’s contribution. Kampl’s former teammate and ex-DFB professional Marcel Halstenberg published two red heart emojis and a dove of peace emoji. World champion Christoph Kramer also commented on a red heart. Kampl’s club RB Leipzig wrote: “Our deepest condolences. Lots of strength to you and your family during this difficult time. We are always there for you!”
The football star told “Bild” about his brother: “We were in Mallorca together during the last international break, lying in each other’s arms and talking about what we would do if I stopped playing football.” Seki was popular with everyone. “There’s no one who had stress with him. He was always there for everyone, always took care of everyone. It’s just so incredibly sad.”
