Frederik Jäkel had missed the spectacular cup game against VfB Stuttgart on Tuesday (11:12 AD), now Eintracht Braunschweig announced that the defender borrowed from RB Leipzig had suffered a cruciate ligament injury last week. That is why the 24-year-old, who has already failed with such a diagnosis, will be missing for months. Jäkel had already missed the game on the 3rd second division game day against Karlsruher SC (0: 2) at the weekend. Now he will undergo an operation.
“It is an extremely bitter message for us and especially for Frederik itself,” said Eintracht Braunschweig’s sports director Benjamin Kessel. “So far, he has left a really good impression with us and was on the best way to develop a place in the starting eleven with full fitness. Despite the only short time within the team, the jersey gesture of the team showed impressively last night. We will support Frederik with all the strength and wish him a successful procedure and the fastest and easy recovery.”
In Braunschweig, Jäkel was supposed to help with his experience from 45 second division games, which he completed during two borrowings with Arminia Bielefeld and SV Elversberg. In the second of the two stations, the Torgauer suffered the cruciate ligament injury early in the second half of 2023/24. The second rental year in the past season had almost completely and completely missed the SVE with lengthy knee problems. Jäkel did not play a professional game for regular club RB Leipzig. He has been trained at the Red Bulls since 2017. The most games for a club (43) so far made Jäkel during a loan at KV Oostend. The former junior international is currently one of four awarded young professionals at RB Leipzig.
