It was not a Champions League final or a derby, yet in Lisbon there was a special air. At the José Alvalade stadium, Sporting House, the Legends Charity Game was staged, a charity event that brought together some of the most loved stars of world football.

how many samples

On the lawn, samples of every era paraded: from the great Portuguese idols such as Pauleta, Figo and Postiga, up to names carved in the collective memory such as Del Piero, Materazzi, Zanetti, Hamsik, Owen, Kaká and Roberto Carlos. There was no lack of surprise of the evening: for a few minutes the boxing world champion Oleksandr Usyk trod the field, welcomed by the applause of the audience present.

the game

The final result, a 4-1 for Portugal Legends, remains a detail. The signing that decided the evening: Luis Figo, home idol and golden ball, turned on the José Alvalade with a game of memories of the memories – a precise and left -wing dribbling – which brought to mind his best times. The goals of Pauleta, Postiga and Pepe, the illusion lit by Owen on Assist by Del Piero and even a penalty saved by Vítor Baía, arrived around his class coup.

Kakà and the future

Among the protagonists, Kaká spoke of the emotion of finding the field and of the many faces friends revised for the occasion: “I love football and every time I can return to play it is special, especially when there is a beneficial end. It was great to review companions and opponents of the past and feel the warmth of the fans, in particular of the youngest who have never seen us as professionals but were there to support us”. On the future, the former Golden Ball has not excluded a return to the bench: “One day I would like to manage a club, it would be an incredible challenge”.

In addition to the show on the field, the evening hit its most important goal: to raise funds for four leading humanitarian projects, from the Portuguese Red Cross to Cáritas, up to International Alert and the Ukrainian Red Cross. The event, organized by Sportal Global, represents only the first step of a series of events that will accompany international football until 2030, the year in which Portugal, Spain and Morocco will host the World Cup.
