Geri Haerynck from Koekelare is an amateur weatherman. He looks at and compares the observations that he has meticulously kept track of since 1978. Haerynck combines this data with his own experiences and measurements from his weather station in the garden.
He predicts that the month of May will not start so dry: “The first ten days of May will be rainy. It will be necessary because we will then return to dry weather. And there is a good chance on the Ice Saints of May, which are May 11, 12, 13 and 14, that the weather will be rhymed.”
He also sees that there is no heat wave coming during the summer months. “We only had 4 days above 30 degrees last summer. I don’t see it burning from the heat this year either. I see a normal year again, like last year, but on the dry side,” says Haerynck.
