The signs were already pointing to farewell last week. Now Lea Schüller’s move to England seems to be just a formality.
Lea Schüller will leave FC Bayern Munich. This is reported by the British newspaper “The Guardian”. Accordingly, the English club Manchester United is about to sign the German international.
Schüller has been playing for FC Bayern since 2020, when he came to Munich from Essen. Since then, she has played 181 competitive games for the current Bundesliga leaders and scored 104 goals. The attacker scored her last goal in a 6-0 win over HSV in mid-December. With Bayern, Schüller won a total of four German championships and the DFB Cup once. In 2022 she became top scorer in the Bundesliga.
Schüller has appeared on the field 81 times for the German national team. She scored 54 goals. In 2024 she secured the bronze medal with the DFB team at the Olympic Games in Paris.
The 28-year-old will now play abroad for the first time in her career at Manchester United. The team is currently in fourth place in the Women’s Super League, but is only one point behind Champions League winners Arsenal and champions Chelsea. The undisputed leader is currently city rivals Manchester City, for whom DFB colleague Sydney Lohmann also plays.
