Interesting news for DAZN customers: Consumer advocates are targeting the streaming service due to allegedly illegal price increases. Users can now become part of a class action.

In the case of the collective action by consumer advocates against the sports streaming service DAZN due to allegedly illegal price increases, claims can now be registered. This was announced by the Federal Office of Justice in Bonn. Consumers as well as small companies could register their claims for entry in the so -called association factor register, it said.

The sports streaming service offers games from the Bundesliga and Champions League games. According to Consumer Center Bundesverband (VZBV), DAZN increased its prices 2021 and 2022 in ongoing contracts without the consent of the customers. Among other things, the monthly price for existing customers was increased from 14.99 to 29.99 euros in the summer of 2022.

Consumer advocates complain about the price increase clause in the contracts as non -transparent and thus ineffective. The VZBV then submitted a lawsuit against the London company DAZN Limited to the Higher Regional Court of Hamm last year (ref.: 12 VKL 1/24).

A registration of claims for the lawsuit is possible until three weeks after the end of the hearing, the Federal Office. So far, no appointment for an oral hearing has been published in an overview of the authority.
