Latvian ice hockey fans were taken to the hospital – a violent situation at the medal ceremony

The Latvian national ice hockey team’s World Cup bronze has confused the whole country.

On Monday, a medal ceremony for hockey heroes was held in Riga, where more than 30,000 people were present.

The large crowd and warm weather caused really stuffy conditions at the Riga Freedom Monument. The temperature in the city was around 20 degrees.

Latvian newspaper Diena four people have been taken to the hospital from the medal ceremony. One of them was an adult and the other three were underage.

The condition of the persons is not serious. They suffer only minor symptoms.

Seven medical units worked at the medal ceremony, but in addition to them, auxiliary forces were called to the scene when people had to be taken to the hospital.

According to the Diena newspaper, the folk festival went well in other respects, and there were no major incidents.
