Late counter goal plunges Young AZ into mourning

Young AZ was unable to beat FC Dordrecht on a visit. In the final phase, Anouar El Azzouzi still scored the only goal: 1-0. It was doubly painful that De Schapenkoppen ended the game with ten men after a red card for Tidjany Touré.

Due to thunderstorms, the confrontation with FC Dordrecht started fifteen minutes later than expected. The first half had few noteworthy moments. Bartek Smolarczyk headed over from a corner after twenty minutes, while Yusuf Barasi couldn’t outwit Liam Bossin.

After the break, chances were few and far between. Barasi forced Bossin into a save and Iman Griffith shot wide on the rebound. A swipe from Barasi was also caught by Bossin moments later. Fifteen minutes before the end, Tidjany Touré was sent off after a riot. Young AZ could not take advantage of the surplus situation and was defeated by Anouar El Azzouzi: 1-0. The team is currently twelfth in the first division and MVV is the next opponent next Friday.

Young AZ line-up: Dane; Van Gom, Postma, Dekker (Dijkstra/63), Engel; Twisk, Neighbor (Koster/46), Reverson; Kewal, Barasi, Griffith.
