LAST MINUTE – FIFA’s Cüneyt Çakır’a shock! Not included in that list

The referees for the 2022 FIFA World Cup to be held in Qatar have been announced.

In the statement made by FIFA, it was stated that 36 middle, 69 assistant and 24 video assistant referees from six confederations will participate in the tournament to be held between 21 November and 18 December.

It was noteworthy that Turkish referees, including Cüneyt Çakır, who played the whistle in many important international tournaments, including the 2014 and 2018 FIFA World Cups, were not assigned duties in the 2022 World Cup.

FOR THE FIRST TIME, WOMEN REFEREES WILL ATTEND THE CUP
For the first time in history, female referees were included in the list of names to manage matches in Qatar 2022 World Cup. French Stephanie Frappart, Rwandan Salima Mukansanga and Japanese Yoshimi Yamashita are middles; Brazilian Neuza Back, Mexican Karen Diaz Medina and USA’s Kathryn Nesbitt will appear in the tournament as assistant referees.

Pierluigi Collina, chairman of the FIFA Referee Committee, which evaluated the appointments, said: “Our first criterion in the selection of referees at the World Cup has always been ‘high quality’. The participation of the highest level players from around the world formed our selection criterion. The 2018 World Cup was very successful. “One of the main reasons was the high standard of match management by the referees. In the tournament in Qatar, we will do our best to raise the bar even higher.” used the phrases.
