In the shoe factory of Ecco on Steenstraat in Dongen, a blazing fire broke out just before ten on Sunday evening. A very large fire has been scaled up, because it is a large company building. This is reported by the Central and West Brabant Safety Region.

The flames hit the roof of the factory on the industrial estate. Around half past ten the smoke decreases considerably and there are still some flames to be seen. Leer is used in the shoe factory. As far as is known at the Safety Region, there were no people in the factory when the fire broke out.

Solar panels
According to the safety region, there are solar panels on the roof, making the fire brigade extra alert. At least five extinguishers and two aerial platforms are on site, including from Dongen, Rijen, Oosterhout and ‘s Gravenmoer. There is also a drone team on site to view the situation from the air.

According to the spokesperson for the Security Region, it is a blazing fire. According to the Safety Region, there is no direct danger for surrounding buildings on the industrial site. “It is a large building, but it is separate and there is a road between the building next to it,” said the spokesperson.

The Safety Region advises people to keep windows and doors closed and turn off the ventilation.
