According to Lapin Kansa magazine, there will be “big changes” to Yle Radio Suomen’s program.

Yle Radio Suomen’s program will undergo major changes as a result of Yle’s change negotiations, reports The People of Lapland.
According to the newspaper, all provincial broadcast streams will end on Yle Radio Suomen’s frequencies as they are. Broadcast broadcasts refer to long program sections in which music, programs, interviews and news broadcasts alternate.
Such broadcast streams have previously been sent from Helsinki, Hämeenlinna, Joensuu, Jyväskylä, Kajaani, Kemi, Kokkola, Kotka, Kuopio, Lahti, Lappeenranta, Mikkeli, Oulu, Pori, Rovaniemi, Seinäjoki, Tampere, Turku and Vaasa.
According to Lapin Kansa, Radio Suomen’s broadcasts will be broadcast nationally from Tampere in the future. However, within the national broadcasts, we are creating “provincial windows”, i.e. local content.
Regional radio news broadcasts will remain in the software, Lapin Kansa reports.
Yle’s management did not confirm or deny information to Lapin Kansa magazine.
Yle’s change negotiations ended last Friday. As a result of the change negotiations, the number of personnel will decrease by 309 people. There are 156 resignations from the reduction.
According to the press release previously published by the Journalists’ Association, the layoffs mean that approximately one in six employees will leave Yle’s provincial departments. This will inevitably affect the quality of the provincial content shown on Yle’s channels, stated the association’s director of interest protection Petri Savolainen.
The threat is that there will be areas of coverage in Finland that no media will follow anymore.
