Superstar Kylian Mbappé almost ended up in the Bundesliga. At a young age, several German clubs showed interest in today’s Real Madrid striker-including FC Bayern.
In conversation with the “Bild am Sonntag”, Mbappé explained that “many clubs” had tried to. “Bayern came to me when I was a little younger and could leave Monaco,” said the striker star.
According to Mbappé, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig were also among interested parties. “And these are just the three clubs that I remember,” said the 26-year-old and added with a laugh: “Maybe there were others, but I don’t remember. Now everyone is asking, but now it’s a little too late.”
The attacker was initially switched from Monaco to Paris Saint-Germain in 2017. A year later, the French club committed the offensive talent for a transfer fee of 180 million euros.
Mbappé has been under contract with Real Madrid since last summer. He was positive about his new coach Xabi Alonso: he had a “great impression” from the Spaniard.
Mbappé continues: “You see a guy who wants to be successful. He knows the club perfectly because he himself played as a player at Real Madrid. At the moment we just try to implement what he tells us. We try to understand his game concept that he has for us – and then see what happens.”
