During her visit, the minister also officially handed over the title of honorary mayor of the city of Waregem to Kurt Vanryckeghem. He was the mayor for eighteen years, so the city council already led him in January as a candidate.
In the meantime, the Flemish government has approved that and Minister Crevits came to make that official in Waregem.
In the meantime, Kurt Vanryckeghem has left the local politics, he no longer sits on the city council. He is still a provincial councilor.
