Kristof (32), like many Flemish farmers, works at least nine full-time working days a week: “This is not normal”

Working days of more than 13 hours, hardly any holidays and financial uncertainty: this is the daily reality for many farmers. This is also the case for dairy farmer Kristof Claesen (32) from Diepenbeek. According to the Farmers’ Union, a Flemish farmer works an average of 66 hours per week. “It is not normal for a farmer to have to spend a full day a week on paperwork.”
