Cortina’s arrow loves to go strong. After the career on skiing, he ran in formula 3000 and in tourism also with the Motars. Without forgetting the accident of which he was the protagonist on Milan-Turin
Speed is the sign of Kristian Ghedina. Whether it is on skis, behind the wheel of a car, on a motorcycle or on a motorboat, Ampezzano loves to go strong. And he did not even spare himself at the Venice Film Festival where he participated to present the documentary Kristian Ghedina – Ski stories by Paolo Galassi, where we also talk about winter Olympics, from 1956 to Milan-Cortina. Stopping the career of descent he tried in several championships such as the Formula 3000 Master, the superurism, the Porsche Gt Cup. But Kristian does not forget the frightening accident of which he was the protagonist in April 1991 on the Milan-Turin motorway.
How did the passion for engines come about?
“I had a passion for speed since childhood, the engines were my greatest passion, but in Cortina I was cut a little out (smiles, editor’s note). Then dad was worried: the bike never bought it and not even the car. When I stopped competing on the snow I started driving on the track. I had to vent “.
What kind of car did you drive?
“As soon as I removed the skis, I participated in the Formula 3000 Master championship with the old F1 cars. It was the most beautiful experience of my career. I had five races placed in the ninth on 20-25 crews. It was the best result I got. In the same year I competed in the Italian superurism championship with a BMW 2000 and supported two races at the Porsche Supercup. M3 in the International Superstars championship.
And there was also a period in which you piloted the two wheels.
“Yes, before the cars. While I was in the national team, they asked me to participate in the Italian Supermotard championship. I made more accidents in these three years on the motorcycles than on the ski slopes. Two years ago instead they invited me to run with the motorboats right here in Venice, and I caught the jump ball. For two years I participated in the World Championship and European Offshore. I don’t miss one. editor’s note) “.
You miss the jets.
“In reality in 1995 I had the pleasure of climbing on a tricolor arrow. I led in line with a pilot. It was crazy. It is incredible how sensitive the cloche is.”
Instead Kristian Ghedina what guides in everyday life?
“You can think: who knows which car he can have. Instead, having had the good fortune to try all kinds of cars, with the family, two and a half years old children and five, I am satisfied with a Volkswagen California. It was a dream of mine that I have always been. But I don’t go slowly, I don’t have the driving as a camperist (smiles, editor’s note). There is no one who overtakes me even with the minibus “.
Do you have a car car?
“My greatest satisfaction is to have guided a 3000 formula. It was the experience that I will carry in my heart for life. I would have liked to take a test for F1, but today there is too much technology on board and you have to train with video games”.
One last curiosity. What was your first car?
“I practiced driving with the rhythm of my mother and with the Volvo 240 diesel of my father. It was a nail. But you learn more with the slow cars than with the fast ones. I managed to convince my father to buy me, with my money, a passat variant G60. It did not want me to buy too small and light machines like a turbo, the Golf GTI or the Peugeot 205. and half: I destroyed it in the 1991 accident. At 200 km/h on the Milan-Turin broke out a rubber.
