“Kommersant” learned that Russia did not make a decision on the OSCE meeting on Ukraine

Russia will most likely not participate in the February 15 meeting requested by Kiev to discuss Russian troop movements near the borders with Ukraine. This is reported by Kommersant, citing sources in the Russian Foreign Ministry.

“The Russian Foreign Ministry reported on Monday afternoon that the decision to participate in the meeting on February 15 has not yet been made, but most likely Russia will not participate in it,” the newspaper writes.

Ukraine gave Russia 48 hours to respond about exercises on the border

Earlier, on February 13, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba announced his intention to convene a meeting. He pointed out that Moscow did not respond to Kiev’s call to explain military activities along the country’s borders and in Crimea according to the Vienna Document, therefore Ukraine requests a meeting with the participation of Russia and all participating states within the next 48 hours.

Vienna Document accepted OSCE in 2011. According to its provisions, a country can request an explanation in the event of unusual or unplanned military activity by another state. Upon receipt of a response, the requesting State may request a meeting with representatives of the responding country. You have 48 hours to complete the meeting. Other countries may also participate. Such a meeting will be hosted by the country chairing the OSCE, which at the moment is Poland.
