King’s Day 2023 promises to be another festive day. The center of our city gets an orange jacket and the program is full of fun activities. On Thursday 27 April, mayor Michel Bezuijen will open King’s Day with the aubade on the Markt. Then the party starts!

Orange breakfast
This is your text. On Thursday morning you can start the day with an orange breakfast on one of the terraces on Stadhuisplein. For 10 euros you get a well-stocked breakfast package. The King’s Breakfast is from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and you can order tickets here. The number of places is limited! Incidentally, organizer Lionsclub Soetermare donates the proceeds to De Bolsterberg: a day care center for multiple handicapped children.

Free market
From 5 a.m. the first Zoetermeer residents try to get their place in front of the free market in the center of the city. It is not possible to reserve a spot on the Markt, the Marseillepad or on the edge of the Dorpsstraat. That is why it is advisable to load your used items on time and to leave early in the morning. Activities in the Dorpsstraat
For the dress market and orange parties you have to be in the Dorpsstraat on 27 April. A number of (catering) entrepreneurs organize cool orange activities. Let’s list a few:
- Sweet Lake Kingsday: From 11 a.m. the orange party will start on the Pilatusdam. Various bands, singers and DJs provide a musical programme. Entrance is free.
- Music and good food on the square: All catering entrepreneurs on the square in the Dorpsstraat provide food and drinks. There is live music on stage. Entrance is free.
- Café De Zwarte Wolk – Hovestein celebrates with live music.
- The planning is that vegan restaurant Ministry of Happiness will open its doors on King’s Day for a snack and a drink. You can immediately get acquainted with the vegetarian kitchen of owner Stephanie.
- In Kunstgarage Franx you can view the latest, free exhibition and go for a snack and a drink at Kiki at Franx.
- In Palenstein Parkbetween the Stadshart and the Dorpsstraat, there will be various food trucks on April 27.

Activities in the Stadshart
On King’s Day 2023, the shops in the Stadshart will be open according to tradition. You can shop, grab a drink on a terrace, have lunch, eat an ice cream and enjoy the orange atmosphere in the city.

Children activities
In addition to the free market, fun games and activities are also organized for children. On Nicolaasplein there is face painting, a puppet show, clowns and all kinds of children’s games. On the Dobbe island is the sweeper, a living puppet theater and more.
