Emagine has 14 movie theaters with 177 screens and 18,000 seats in Michigan, Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin. The chain receives approximately 6 million visitors annually and achieves a turnover of approximately $129 million. Kinepolis expects Emagine to contribute almost $20 million to the group’s gross operating profit based on 2024.
CEO Eddy Duquenne calls the acquisition “an important milestone” and “a valuable addition to the portfolio” of Kinepolis. “It is the first acquisition of this size since the corona pandemic.” The deal should be completed by the end of this year and the Emagine brand name will be retained.
Kinepolis is active in seven European countries, Canada and the US, where it already has ten cinemas.
