Beautiful songs, a red carpet and a lot of flowers. Miss Angela Kommeren from the Eindhoven primary school De Troubadour said goodbye to ‘her’ school after 47 years of teaching. During her career she has seen more than 1200 Eindhoven toddlers pass by.

“Stopping feels very crazy,” Angela says Studio 040. “I also shed a tear. But you just have to give it a place and someone else to do list to make.’

The children will miss them the most. “And the routine. I closed this school year and wished the children a nice holiday. But my vacation is a lasting vacation.”

Angela started her career at the age of twenty and after that teaching never let go. “In 1977 I succeeded for my education. I was specially trained as a kindergarten teacher, there really is my heart.”

She saw it as her most important task to always let her students enter the class with a nice feeling. “I would describe myself as a teacher as sweet, empathetic, enthusiastic, patient and warm.”

Now that she is retired, she mainly wants to enjoy. “Do nothing at all at first, then travel and free up more time for my grandchildren.”
