Kimmich clashes with assistant coach after Bochum defeat

After the defeat in Bochum, FC Bayern is on the brink. A scene during the game demonstrated the thinness of the team.

The 2-3 defeat at VfL Bochum is the next low blow for FC Bayern. This is the third game in a row that Munich loses. Things are currently tough for the record champions. After the embarrassment in the DFB Cup in Saarbrücken at the beginning of November and the threatened exit from the Champions League, the championship is now a long way off. Meanwhile, things seem to be simmering in the team.

This became clear during the game in Bochum. National player Joshua Kimmich was substituted in the second half. It only took around an hour to play. The midfielder reacted in shock. The pictures show him completely disillusioned on the Bayern bench. It almost seems as if Kimmich is close to tears.

According to media reports, the scandal broke out after the final whistle. Kimmich is said to have argued with Bayern’s assistant coach Zsolt Löw. A video shows the bullying assistant coach on the way to the changing rooms. “Bild” writes that Captain Manuel Neuer had to intervene on the way to the catacombs and mediate between Kimmich and Löw.

According to the “Abendzeitung”, there was almost a scuffle between Kimmich and Löw. Bayern boss Dreesen made it clear: “Josh must have been fairly well served on the substitutes’ bench, but that’s also normal,” then he added. “If the coach takes him out, that’s fine, a coach’s decision. It’s understandable that Josh would be angry.”

Coach Thomas Tuchel later said: “I know what was going on. This is not for the public.” He also emphasized: “We are in a football locker room. This is a pretty normal incident if it stays within limits. And it stayed within limits.”
