Designer and ‘Germany’s Next Top Model’ juror Kilian Kerner designs the new uniform for Berlin bus and subway drivers. The BVG hopes that this will have a positive effect on the driving experience.

The drivers of Berlin’s subways, trams and buses should wear clothing by fashion designer Kilian Kerner from 2026. The Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG) renews the wardrobes of around 8,000 employees on a regular basis, the company announced.

The internationally successful designer Kilian Kerner is also known to many people as a juror on ‘Germany’s Next Top Model’. “I have lived in this city for almost 22 years and the thought of soon seeing my creations in the subway is really great,” Kerner was quoted as saying in a statement. The BVG has not yet provided any details about the new uniforms.

The new collection will unify the appearance of the employees, it was said. The company believes this will “have a positive impact on passengers’ driving experience.”

BVG passengers can use positive travel experiences: the company has been criticized for months, particularly because of train cancellations and numerous delays on the Berlin subway. The main problem is the outdated vehicle fleet. (dpa)
