In addition to Musampa, his 65-year-old accountant was also arrested. The houses of both men have been investigated and watches and administration were seized by the tax intelligence – and Oppringsdienst (FIOD), according to the newspaper.
Accountant still in cell
Musampa and his accountant were both arrested and interrogated on Tuesday. After a night in jail, the former football player was released on Wednesday, the accountant is still stuck. They are suspected of fraud with income tax returns over several years, the FIOD told Het Parool.
Both men are going to be prosecuted, the FIOD says about the accountant: “It can be expected that he does not cooperate in fraud. People who abuse the tax system harm the treasury and thus other taxpayers. Fraud undermines the system.”
Building to auction
The Musampa born in Congo is the owner of a building in the Peperstraat in the center, which has been seized and that will be auctioned. That would happen last week, but that was postponed. Since he works for Ajax, he must be regarded as a domestic taxpayer.
However, the accountant and Musampa submitted several tax returns as a foreign taxpayer, even after a judge ruled earlier that that was not correct. It is estimated that the tax disadvantage is more than 100,000 euros.
Ajax does not want to go into the business yet, the club finds that too premature.
