The Costa Rican goalkeeper, who in recent months could have joined Monza, could instead sign with the Chilean club
Last summer he seemed one step away from signing Nesta and Galliani with Monza, then everything fell through and nothing more was done about his arrival in Serie A. In September he was linked to Barcelona, desperately looking for a goalkeeper after the serious injury (rupture of the patellar tendon in the right knee) suffered to starter Marc-André ter Stegen. In the end, however, the Blaugrana preferred his Polish colleague from Juventus Wojciech Szczęsny, blocking his path to Catalonia. Now the career of Keylor Navas, a Costa Rican goalkeeper with a long history at Real Madrid (2014-2019) and Paris Saint-Germain (2019-2024), as well as a brief stint at Nottingham Forest in 2023, could restart from Chile.

In fact, Colo-Colo – the most successful club in the country with 34 titles, 14 cups and 4 national super cups – fell on him, determined to replace the now former Bryan Cortés (recently moved to León, in Mexico) with the president Daniel Morón who is personally carrying out the negotiations. A transfer rumor that as the days went by became more and more insistent, so much so that in the last few hours the confirmation also came from L’Equipe: “Six months after leaving PSG – wrote the French newspaper –, the 38-year-old Navas could sign with Chilean Colo-Colo for what would be one of his last professional challenges on the pitch. The two sides are said to be very close to an agreement.” An agreement which should include a one-year contract (until December 2025) with the possibility of extension and the company’s full availability to satisfy all the player’s salary requests.

What would be decisive in convincing the expert goalkeeper to move to Chile would be above all the opportunity to participate in the Copa Libertadores, a competition that has always fascinated him, but in which he has never taken part. Doing it in the centenary year of the club, which has won it only once so far (in 1991), could be the best way to end a career full of successes. Above all, the three consecutive triumphs in the Champions League (2016, 2017 and 2018) obtained while defending Real’s goal under the guidance of coach Zinédine Zidane.
