Kevin Hofland remains trainer of relegated Willem II

Kevin Hofland will also be Willem II’s trainer next season. The 42-year-old Limburger succeeded the fired Fred Grim two months ago, but failed to save the Tilburgers from relegation to the Kitchen Champion Division.

“The way in which he works with the player group, other staff members and employees of the club has led to a lot of satisfaction and respect in that short and intensive period,” Willem II reports. Hofland signed a two-year contract.

‘Tactically strong’
Technical director Teun Jacobs, who was appointed last week, was quickly resolved with Hofland. “Prolonging the partnership with Kevin was our top priority. Kevin is an ambitious and modern trainer and has shown that he can inspire players to work together as a team. In addition, he is tactically strong and has a great eye for the person behind the football player.” , said Jacobs.

Hofland was head coach of Fortuna Sittard in 2020, the club where he started his career as a professional football player. The former defender also previously worked as an assistant at the club. At the end of 2020 he was fired from Fortuna. Last season he started as an assistant to Mark van Bommel at VfL Wolfsburg. That lasted until October when Van Bommel was fired.
