Kehl on the bitter BVB bankruptcy: “Simply weak!”

Borussia Dortmund managed the dubious feat of giving up a 2-0 lead in the last six minutes of the game in Saturday’s home game against Werder Bremen. On the day after the bitter 2:3 bankruptcy, BVB was licking wounds. Sports director Sebastian Kehl did not mince his words during the analysis.

“Giving up a two-goal lead in the last six minutes is just weak. Whoever concedes goals like that takes more than enough work with them from a game like this. The goals came late, but Werder deserved the win,” said the 42-year-old in conversation with the “Ruhr news” Celebration.

In fact, the promoted team from Bremen was much braver and more aggressive than the host BVB, who had fewer shots on goal and fewer ball contacts than their opponent.

BVB coach Terzic spoke of “brutally stupid” goals

The shockingly weak pass rate of just under 78 percent was also addressed by the Dortmund sports director. “Even after the first wins, we knew that we still had to improve. However, this blatant drop in performance by the team on Saturday took us completely by surprise. We will analyze this game and have a lot of talks,” said Kehl, who felt the same as before head coach Edin Terzic had expressed.

The Dortmund coach had spoken on Saturday evening after the first defeat of the season of “brutally stupid and brutally annoying goals conceded” by his team and was bitterly disappointed.

Next Saturday, the black and yellow continue with the away game at Hertha BSC (from 3:30 p.m.). By then, the seventh-placed player in the Bundesliga wants to find himself again in a playful way and have worked through the home defeat against Werder Bremen. BVB’s next home game is on September 2 against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.
