Most recently, Kathy Hendrich had announced that VfL Wolfsburg left the end of the past season. Now it is clear which jersey the 33-year-old will wear in the coming season.
The German national football player Kathrin “Kathy” Hendrich continues her career at the Chicago Stars in the USA. The US club announced this on Wednesday. The 33-year-old receives a two-year contract that includes an exit clause after the first season. Until the end, the defender was under contract with VfL Wolfsburg that she would leave the club, she had already communicated in May. Hendrich is therefore free of charge for the stars.
It is “very exciting,” said Hendrich, for whom it is the first professional station abroad: “I can’t wait to meet my new teammates and look forward to the new challenge and to play in front of our fans.” After the European Championship (July 2nd to 27th) she will join her new team.
Hendrich “has proven her great defensive talent in the Bundesliga and internationally and will strengthen our defense,” said Chicago’s managing director Richard Feuz in the club announcement. Thanks to their “immense experience”, the German “will be valuable support for our younger players”.
Hendrich had played with the “wolves” from 2020 to 2025, became German champion with VfL 2022 and won the DFB Cup four times. Already in 2015, the defender, born in Eupen in Belgium, had the Champions League with the then 1st FFC Frankfurt (now Eintracht Frankfurt). In the jersey of the German national team, she was there at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio and Olympic Bronze 2024 in Paris.
