The World Cup in Norway did not run as hoped for the German ski jumping ace Katharina Schmid. Now she is thinking about her future.

She is seven -time world champion. However, for the German ski jumping star Katharina Schmid, the Nordic Ski World Cup in Trondheim was no longer added. It was only enough bronze in the team competition. The 28-year-old had probably imagined her farewell to the large World Cup stage. Schmid made it clear that she soon wanted to end her successful career.

She explained: “I took a moment and thought: I can’t say it with a 100 % probability, but it was probably my last World Cup jumping.” This ended the silver medalist of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics with 19th place in Norway. Schmid plans to end her career either after this season or after the Olympic winter in 2026.

She stated: “I will take the time after winter and rethink everything. Then I will decide whether I will still do the Olympics.” The next World Cup is in Sweden in 2027 and is no longer in Schmid’s career plan.

She celebrated her greatest success under her birth name Althaus. In the last World Cup title fights in Planica, she secured gold and bronze three times-successes that she had celebrated there together with friends and family. Should Schmid stop after this winter, she would no longer have witnessed a four -hill tour for women. The DSV jumper has been committed to the women’s competition for years, which the men have long since read (you can read more about the tour here).
