The arrival of new libertarian deputies to Congress after the victory of Javier Milei generated expectations about the profile and preparation of the bench that will accompany the President in the stage that opens towards 2026. In this context, the elected representative Karen Reichardt starred in a striking moment in an interview with La Nación +, where his speech ended up evidencing a contradiction that is difficult to ignore.

Reichardt was trying to explain the importance of avoiding extreme positions in politics when he argued that “fanaticism is not good.” To illustrate this, she mentioned her own experience as a soccer fan: “I’m a River fan and it’s not good. You don’t have a good time. The fan is the one who doesn’t see anything else about how they play,” she said. The phrase sought to point out the need to maintain a critical outlook even within one’s own convictions.

However, when asked by the journalist if she was also a fan of Javier Milei, the deputy responded without hesitation: “Yes, I am a fan of Milei.” Asked about the evident tension between both statements, Reichardt justified her enthusiasm by recounting her experience within the ruling party: she explained that she participated in a meeting at Casa Rosada where the President anticipated that this year Congress “will work more than ever.” “We all applaud because we really want to enter Congress so that everything that was said during the campaign happens,” he added.

The episode reveals one of the challenges that La Libertad Avanza faces in its entry into Congress: accompanying the President with enthusiasm without losing consistency in the speech or falling into contradictions that fuel criticism of the space’s leadership style. Milei advanced a loaded legislative agenda and a central role for his deputies, who will seek to turn a large part of the campaign promises into laws. In this context, the way in which they express that support—and how conviction and fanaticism coexist within a project that is presented as a break with the old policy—begins to come under public scrutiny. For a force that came to power promising a profound transformation, the solidity and balance of its spokespersons will be part of the upcoming discussion.
