Kaiserslautern is apparently separating from coach Grammozis

After just seven games it’s over again: 1. FC Kaiserslautern has apparently fired coach Dimitrios Grammozis.

The relegation-threatened second division team 1. FC Kaiserslautern released coach Dimitrios Grammozis after just seven games. This is reported by the “Bild” newspaper, citing “sources close to the club”. In six second division games with Grammozis on the line, the “Red Devils” lost five. In the DFB Cup they were able to beat Hertha BSC in the quarter-finals and celebrated their place in the semi-finals. Apparently that wasn’t enough for Grammozis to save his job.

After the 1-2 defeat against SC Paderborn last weekend, managing director Thomas Hengen avoided expressing loyalty to Grammozis. “The trainer is the poorest pig,” emphasized Hengen. “He had a standing here from the start, for whatever reason. But you have to deliver results, I, the coach and the team know that. The mood is not in danger of changing, the mood has changed,” were the managing director’s clear words.
